Kate and Chris

Kate & Chris

> In December 2000 Kate Hudson married rocker Chris Robinson in an intimate, and private ceremony with close family and friends. The couple made several red carpet appearances to Kate's movie premieres, and Kate joined Chris on the road with his band The Black Crowes. Motherhood wasn't far off to add to Kate's list of accomplishments. After being a loving wife for more then three years, Kate gave birth to a baby boy Ryder Russell Robinson in early January of 2004. The loving family was featured in a photo spread in the June 2004 edition of the American Vogue magazine. Kate had also given the world an early look at her new addition during an interview with Barbra Walters on 20/20.

In the Beginning...

> Kate had been a Black Crowes fan all her life but when she found herself face-to-face with the lead singer she had no clue who he was. At first the two never connected. However fate would have its way and bring the two back together in another chance encounter a few years later at a party in New York City. Instead of history repeating it self, the two were surprisingly attracted to one another this time around.

Within four days the pair were inseparable, and already moved in together. Kate is quoted saying that "I met him on a Thursday and moved in that Sunday." Her family tried to be optimistic about Kate's sudden relationship. Her pa was the first to notice the whirlwind romance was the real deal. He knew that she was really in love with Chris because she didn't come home and talk about him. She didn't have to convince herself how great he was to herself or anyone.

Seven months after meeting, Kate married Chris Robinson on New Years Eve 2000 at her parents 7,500-sq.-ft. home in Old Snowmass near Aspen. According to reports, approximately 70 close family members and friends were in attendance, including Chris's fellow band mates, Michael Douglas and Sally Field. Kate wore a 19th century-inspired, strapless ivory silk duchesse satin Vera Wang dress, with a hand-stitched corset bodice. In sticking with the time of the year, the wedding was white on white (candles, flowers etc.) After the ceremony, guests ended up at the Elk Mountain Lodge, where hip country band BR5-49 supplied the music.

In June 2003 Kate Hudson & Chris Robinson announced that they were expecting their first child. On January 7th 2004 Kate & Chris welcomed their son Ryder Russell Robinson into the world.

Le Divorce...
> On August 14th 2006 it was announced that Kate would be separating from Chris Robinson after nearly seven years of marriage. After it was announced the two would be separating, speculation in the tabloid media began, running the gamut from Chris's "wild rock star" ways as quoted from one magazine, to Kate's rising career. Every possible scenario was written about all of which is pure speculation and tabloid fodder. Kate and Chris remain a close relationship as friends, and were photographed days after the separation became publicly announced.. Their divorce was finalized in the fall of 2007.

"I mean [divorce is] really, really hard. And for both Chris and me, our main focus is, and was, Ryder. And happy parents, happy baby. And therefore, I love Chris to pieces. He's my first huge love. I spent seven years with Chris. I was 20 when I met him. We still talk everyday. He still cracks me up. And Ryder feels that."
